Caring for the Rochester Community

We are passionate about caring for those in our community who are struggling both physically and financially. Recently, The Linda Rea Team invited the community to volunteer in their efforts to assist those suffering with cancer by creating care bags for patients receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The “chemo bags” were assembled by The Linda Rea Team, members of the Real Estate One office, Tim Crawford of The Crawford Insurance Group, local business owners, loan officers, several people from the community, and other realtors at our office in downtown Rochester, Michigan. The bags were lovingly filled with donations of cuddly blankets, activity booklets, socks for men, footies for women, Chapstick, a magazine, hand cream, throat lozenges, and other useful items. Linda, a cancer survivor and humanitarian, knows firsthand the importance of having a support system of friends and family during this scary, life changing time in a cancer patient’s life. “Cancer’s touching a lot of people and I know the fear and scariness, having had Thyroid Cancer,” she shares. “We did this because we truly care about our community,” continues Linda. “It was heartwarming to witness everybody joining hands to make these.” 5o care bags were filled and delivered to St. John’s Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Linda and her team intend to hold this type of event several times per year to continue reaching those in need. For the first event, The Linda Rea Team purchased all the items for the project. For proceeding events, they will ask volunteers to contribute.

Linda also has in mind to continue her cause for caring for those in need by creating another event focused on foster children. The standard procedure for children in foster care is to keep their items in a garbage bag when transitioning from an institution to a foster home. “I want to create a special keepsake bag for these kids, so they have a more dignified way to carry their treasured items,” she states. “the team brainstormed ideas and thought about including a diary with a lock on it, thereby giving the foster children a sense of privacy.” Date of this event to be announced soon. If you’d like to volunteer or donate to either cause, please contact The Linda Rea Team at 248-709-3786, located at 1002 N. Main Street in Rochester, MI.
